Finish Work

Our precise framing sets the perfect stage for quality finish work. Starting with flat, plumb, and square framing is crucial to achieve the desired finish work in custom homes. Material choice is also paramount. We prefer to use poplar for trim that is being painted. Poplar is able to hold a nice edge when routing/shaping, provides exceptional results when painting, and is hard enough to resist denting. Movement in wood is inevitable with seasonal changes in temperature and humidity, but proper fastening and the use of glue can greatly reduce the effects of that. Where it is possible we use pocket screws, biscuits and glue to provide a strong connection that will limit movement and resist the cracking in the painted finish over time.
